BLACK KID is the comic coming-of-age story of Clark, a bookish, 11-year-old biracial kid from New York whose world is turned upside down when his family relocates to a rural, all-white town for his mother’s new teaching position.
Although Clark is quickly befriended by two popular girls, the girls have a different idea of what being a black kid from NYC should be. With the support of his parents, he learns to define himself rather than fulfill the expectations of others.
BLACK KID won the Grand Jury Prize for Screenplay from IFP and most recently was awarded a grant by the San Francisco Film Society. The film will be produced by Jared Goldman, Ken Keller, Caron Rudner, and Jordan Horowitz.
